A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

When I’m not painting, I care for my three year old granddaughter, play the organ and piano, sew, try new cooking recipes, and watch various art instruction videos as well as perusing Art Auction Sites online.

2. Why do you make art?

Why I paint is best explained by this ancient anonymous quote: There is a vibration going through the earth, and that vibration is within you… and if people find that you can fiddle, well, fiddle you must, for the rest of your life.

3. What inspires you?

My inspiration comes from nature seen on long, rural countryside car rides, ancient oaks with bent limbs scraping the ground with newly attached sprouted limbs shooting upward, roadside wildflowers, seashores and palms.

4. What/who are your influences?

I have most been influenced by Bob Ross, although I don’t use oils. I guess it was his affable manner, soft spoken guidance, and glorious landscapes that kept me spellbound and determined to keep working as an artist.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

I would like to meet that unknown artist living out in the country in my area, at a fork in the road, who has paintings (some portraits, a Pollock style mural, and abstracts) stuck on the side of an old barn, protected by plastic, a rusty pipe giraffe, and a huge Cretan looking face crafted in stone propped up by a stump close to the fence and rustic house nearby. This artist has that vibration compelling him to not only paint, weld art, and craft stone, but share his art with the world as best he can, at the fork in the road.
